ELS
KNOCKAERT
In her paintings, Els Knockaert seeks to capture the essence of childhood - a theme that resonates deeply with her from her years spent in the mountains of Colombia. Living among children who play freely, in a world still untouched by modern distractions, has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for her. This spirit of innocence and pure joy shines through in each of her paintings.
She works mainly with mixed media, creating richly textured and colorful backgrounds using a variety of materials, then finishing with oil paint. The use of the palette knife is essential to her process, lending tangible structure to her paintings. You can see and almost touch the accumulation of layers of paint, an element that doesn't always translate into photos, but which lends a unique depth to her works.
Each painting tells a vibrant story of humanity - shared laughter, knowing whispers, or a wondrous look at the Living.
Her artistic approach is a celebration of color, texture and life. Her work aims to create a bond between artist, subject and viewer, awakening personal memories while paying homage to the universal and the beauty of the Living.
Els has been living in France for many years now. The painting workshops she organizes attract people from all over France, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg. Her work can be found in numerous private collections in France and Latin America.
